5 places to take her for drink dates in Newcastle

Being a single student in Newcastle who enjoys her alcoholic beverages (and who often needs them to get through a date), I decided to make a list of 5 nice places to take a date for the perfect first impression.  Staying away from Jesmond as you don’t want to bump into a bunch of the lads – in case she prefers them!

These are just a few suggestions as luckily Newcastle is full of amazing places to eat and drink. You’ll never be short of places to take your Tinder dates.

  1. No28

I didn’t actually find out about this place until recently. Good music, nice drinks. Hidden above Grainger Market so hopefully you won’t bump into any ex’s! It is also open until 3am every night if the conversation keeps flowing! It is definitely a hidden gem with its quirky decor.

  1. Pleased to Meet You

Perfect for all you gin psychopaths. Probably my most visited place in terms of first dates. The bar has a nice sophisticated feel to it without being over the top. It’s also close to the comedy club if you have a big date planned.

41-45 High Bridge, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 1EW

  1. The Holy Hobo

Previously known as Mr Lynch’s, this bar has super fun cocktails and student discounts. Ok, it might still be in Jesmond but it’s on the outskirts and more effort to get to. Your friends are most likely to be binging £2 pints at Blanc so don’t panic. Definitely more of a chill atmosphere if you’re feeling a bit nervy.

  1. Tokyo

No need to hop on a plane, Tokyo is located close to central station so has a lively atmosphere with a unique half indoor / outdoor rooftop terrace – perfect for smokers and non-smokers. Delicious cocktails and a perfect location for a spontaneous night out after.

Tokyo, 17 Westgate Road, Newcastle, NE1 1SE

  1. The Botanist

Ok, ok. I had to put this on. Super touristy for Newcastle but where else has a huge magical tree in the middle of it? Plus, the cocktails are peng. The outside area is also super nice with views out to moment and electric heaters for those who feel the cold.
